CDWA Lite XML Feeds
Categories for the Description of Works of Art (CDWA) describes the content of art databases by articulating a conceptual framework for describing and accessing information about works of art, architecture, other material culture, groups and collections of works, and related images. Many aspects of Vesica's data structure are built on the CDWA framework.
CDWA Lite is an XML schema based on the core elements of Categories for the Description of Works of Art (CDWA) and Cataloging Cultural Objects (CCO).
Vesica allows you to get lean CDWA Lite feeds for all the objects in your account. This is part of our ethos to promote, encourage and facilitate the use of CDWA Lite by institutions in cataloging, online publishing, and exposing metadata. The purpose of the XML schema is to describe a format for core records for works of art and material culture, based on the data elements and guidelines contained in CDWA. CDWA Lite records are intended for contribution to union catalogs and other repositories.
With a CDWA Lite compliant feed, you can:
- Backup your object details, images, and assets
-
Share your collection with other catalogs and repositories
- Integrate your collection(s) with other databases and apps
